el naturalista fashionista

we are totally thrilled to tell the whole city that the spring 2009 collection of another one of our long-time favourite shoe lines has been arriving in recent weeks, and it is beautiful! as many of you will know, we have been carrying el naturalista, an eco-friendly shoe line made in spain, for several seasons now...and we love it!

el nat combines perfect style influenced from trips around the globe with total comfort, making you ready for lazy afternoon strolls down water street or an all day/all night wedding bash this summer, and everything in between!

many of their styles feature natural and recycled rubber soles, leathers naturally treated and dyed with vegetable and plant products, and recycled polyurethane inner liners - they're the ideal way to stay green and cute this summer.

for the last few weeks on the blog, i've been letting you in on the secret of the dozens of new styles of footwear we have in stock at the store right now for the new spring/summer season! usually I'll talk about a few lines at a time, but one of our newest collections really does deserve a post of its own. hispanitas is a line designed and produced in spain, using beautifully dyed leathers to create footwear and bags that are perfect for an eastern canadian girl wishing she were laying on a spanish beach...or for just about anyone, for that matter. here is the hispanitas spring 2009 collection, newly available at twisted sisters:

you know, i really wasn't kidding a few posts back when i said it was taking me a while to get through blogging about all the new shoes we have in stock for spring/summer! plus, for any of you who may not have known that we even carried shoes, oh boy are you in for a treat!

bos & co is a Brazilian-made line of shoes and sandals that emphasize comfort mixed with style. rubber soles and stacked heels make bos & co a perfect choice for all-day wear, and their bright colours for spring are an ideal way to express yourself this season. we love bos & co's vintage feel...wear them with a high-waisted skirt or a-line sundress for maximum '50s appeal! here are some of the styles we have from bos & co for spring:

anything under the sun (or rain)

the forecast here in st. john's is calling for rain all week, but down here on water street this morning the sun is shining and there's not a cloud in the sky. in celebration of our ever-changing east coast weather, here are two lines we're carrying for spring with both the rain and the sun in mind! hunter boots are UK essentials - their rubber boots (or wellies...short for wellingtons) are totally practical for springtime puddles. we're stocking them for the first time ever this season, with two styles commissioned by the royal horticultural society (they've even been approved by the queen!) in gorgeous florals.

i'm particularly smitten by the pink polka dot lining on that last pair...can't you just imagine a lazy rainy day stroll under an umbrella wearing these?

but we're not all about dancin' in the rain, of course...we love a sunny day as much as the next girl! your favourite cotton skirt, a pair of ray bans, and some sam edelman sandals and you're good to go (just don't forget the SPF). we've been carrying sam edelman for a few years now and love it...the line is innovative and unique, and uses super soft leathers for the uppers and soles of their comfy styles. their take on metallic gladiators and strappy sandals is the perfect way to get your newly-painted tootsies ready for summer (or maybe an easter trip down south?):

on the blog lately, I've been highlighting some of the spring 2009 collections of various shoe lines that we carry here at the store - with so many brands this season, it's taking a while to get through them all! here's another collection from the time of year we love the most.

this is only our second season carrying camper in the shop, and we are delighted to have them...the novelty hasn't worn off yet, since many ooh's and ahh's can be heard whenever a camper shipment arrives! their spring/summer collection this year is distinctive and varied: from leather flats and sneakers with gorgeous floral graphics (think picnic wear) to the perfect pair of pastel sandals (think cuban cabana party), camper never disappoints. take a look for yourself:

this season has seen our shoe collection grow in a big way...we went from one tiny shoe rack to four full tables dedicated to showing you our newest treasures for your tootsies. we're really happy to have found two new eco-friendly lines, groundhog and simple. both lines create casual looks in shoes and sandals made in an environmentally sustainable fashion - as far as we can tell, it doesn't get much better than that!

simple shoes are all about being natural. the styles we have at the store this season are made using organic cotton, cork for the topsoles, natural rubber, and outsoles made of recycled car tires! take a look:
